Fundamental Humanistic Philosophy
Insitut Montana Zugerberg first opened its doors in 1926 in the buildings of the former Grand Hotel Schönfels. From the very beginning, the school's founder, Dr. Max Husmann, tirelessly pursued his educational ideals of individualized instruction, internationalism, and cultural integration.
How much the first director was committed to his humanistic philosophy became apparent in the spring of 1945 when he contributed significantly to an early end to the war in Italy. Because of his efforts, many lives were saved and cultural treasures preserved. During this period, Dr. Husmann also offered asylum on the Zugerberg to dozens of refugees. In order to preserve his life's work for the future, he created the Dr. Max Husmann Foundation in 1946.
