What kinds of students attend Institut Montana?

Institut Montana is open to all students who meet our academic requirements. We aim to develop our student body in a balanced manner. Students come to our school from Switzerland and around the globe. Boarding students are generally admitted from the age of 10 years old, although exceptions can be made under certain circumstances.

Currently, there are 300 students from more than 40 nations enrolled at our school, approximately half of which are girls.

More than 50% of students are boarders. Roughly half of our students have a Swiss family background.

Is there an application deadline?

There is no application deadline. Our admissions team is happy to assist you with your application year-round, even during most school holidays. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis. We therefore recommend early applications to avoid your application being put on our waiting list.

Do you admit students throughout the school year?

We have a rolling admissions process. Students are admitted throughout the year, but we recommend entry at the beginning of a semester.

What information do you require for an application to be considered complete?

You need to complete the application form and supply the information listed in the enrolment regulations. Further information on prior academic results will help us to better advise you on which programme to choose and possible support programmes that might be helpful. If you are unsure whether your application is complete, our admissions team will be glad to assist you.

Are there entrance exams?

No, there are no entrance exams. However, we may administer placement tests to ensure that a student is placed at the appropriate grade level or to determine whether a student requires language support (EAL/DaZ).

Do you help with administrative issues (e.g. VISA, health insurance)?

Yes, the admissions office is here to assist you and offers assistance with the VISA application process.

Students who are insufficiently, or not, insured are also enrolled on the school’s healthcare and accident insurance plan. For more information please see our enrolment regulations.
