Swiss High School

The Prestigious Swiss Matura in an International Educational Environment

Swiss High School (Gymnasium)

The Swiss Matura is a comprehensive and balanced programme, following a broad curriculum that crosses the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. The Swiss Matura enables you to continue to higher education at highly respected Swiss universities such as the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), University of St. Gallen (HSG) and Swiss Hospitality Management School in Lausanne (EHL). It is also recognised by universities around the world and we offer a bilingual education track to open these opportunities to you.

This Swiss education at Insititut Montana stands out because of our international focus as well as our personalised approach to teaching and learning. As you study, you will be learning to use three languages (English, German and French). If you are ambitious, you might choose our bilingual Matura, at the end of which you will be fluent in both English and German.

Swiss Matura

The first three years will focus on enhancing your learning skills to build the solid foundations and knowledge required to attain the Swiss Matura Diploma. In the final years, you continue with a wide range of subjects, but can choose an elective to deepen your studies in an area that inspires you. The research and analysis skills you will need for higher education will be developed as you work on an independent research project.

Bilingual Matura

You will take extra English classes to make sure you achieve and maintain the necessary standard in English. Geography, history and biology will be taught in English and your research project will be written in English. There will be an opportunity to study abroad for five weeks in an English-speaking country, usually during the school holidays. In each of the first two years at high school, you can await a stay abroad in Italy. After that, you will be able to travel to a French-speaking country for a language stay in levels 3 and 4.

Whichever track you choose you will benefit from the small size of our school and of our teaching groups. You are always an individual whose talents will be recognised and who will be supported whenever you need help with any aspects of your studies. We want you to do your best.
