Recognition on digital citizenship and AI for Institut Montana
We are pleased to share that Institut Montana has been officially recognised as a Common Sense School, receiving the Official School Badge after completing the requirements of Common Sense Education’s Digital Citizenship Curriculum.
This recognition highlights our commitment to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and judgment needed to navigate today’s digital world safely, ethically, and responsibly. It reflects the purposeful work already taking place across our classrooms to strengthen both digital citizenship and AI literacy.
As Common Sense Education emphasises, digital media and technology are evolving rapidly, offering extraordinary opportunities while also presenting real risks for young people. Students use the power of the internet and mobile technology to explore, connect, create, and learn in ways never before imagined, both in and out of the classroom. At the same time, these technologies raise important challenges, including cyberbullying, misinformation, privacy concerns, media balance, and social and emotional well-being.
At Institut Montana, we see these developments as valuable teachable moments. We believe digital citizenship skills are essential for students in the 21st century. That is why we are committed to nurturing thoughtful digital learners, responsible leaders, and engaged citizens.
Through the implementation of the Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship Curriculum, students engage with key themes, including:
- Media Balance and Well-Being
- Privacy and Security
- Digital Footprint and Identity
- Relationships and Communication
- Cyberbullying, Digital Drama, and Hate Speech
- News and Media Literacy
- Digital Empowerment
- AI Literacy, responsible AI use, and critical evaluation of AI-generated content
This recognition is especially meaningful as it reflects the sustained efforts embedded in our lessons, discussions, and activities. Students are guided to think critically about their online behaviour, evaluate digital content, understand how algorithms and AI shape information, protect their privacy, and communicate respectfully. In doing so, they develop into responsible and reflective users of technology.
We are proud to join a growing network of schools recognised for excellence in this area. This milestone further strengthens our commitment to digital well-being, responsible innovation, and future-ready learning.
