Our Scholarship

The Institut Montana Scholarship Programme has been set up to enable a limited number of students, who would otherwise be unable to join the school, to have the opportunity to study at our boarding school.

The successful candidate must:

  • Contribute to our school community pursuant to our philosophy

  • Have achieved outstanding grades at his or her current school

  • Attend our school as a weekly boarding student
  • Apply to our Bilingual Secondary School or to the Swiss Senior High School

Our scholars live in our boarding houses as weekly boarders (Sunday evening to Friday afternoon) for substantially reduced tuition fees. Other expenses are paid normally. The reduced fee is adjusted annually, as per the regular tuition fees.

The Scholarship was set up on the school’s 90th Anniversary to honour the memory of its first two Directors, Dr Max Husmann (1926-1946) and Dr Josef Ostermayer (1946-1980). It is through their belief in the power of education to help make the world a better place that our school was founded, grew and sustained the ethos and spirit that are still relevant today. To allow its long-term continuation, scholars pledge, depending on their situation, to repay an amount of 10,000 CHF to the Institut Montana Zugerberg Scholarship Fund over 10 years, after graduating from our school.
