Our special “100 YEARS” Jubilee bus public is here!
On Saturday, 29 November, we proudly unveiled our special “100 YEARS” Jubilee bus to the public — a moment filled with history, gratitude, and excitement.
It was a freezing autumn day on Postplatz, the famous square of the Zug city. But the weather did not quench the excitement of our school community. Mixed with familiar Saturday buzz, shoppers and passersby, we all celebrated the launch of our special 100 Years Montana bus. Especially designed in Montana style, this E-bus is a collaboration with Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe (ZVB). For every kilometre this bus travels over the next 13 months, we will donate to the GGZ Nonprofit Foundation Zug — a heartfelt way to give back to the community that has supported us for generations. This e-bus not only marks a significant milestone in our school’s history but also reflects Montana’s deep commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The following week, the special bus will operate on the main ZVB lines throughout the Zug area.
A warm welcome
The event began at around 11:30 a.m., where guests were welcomed with warm sweet punch, and homemade refreshments, a comforting start to the cold day. Right in the middle of the Platz stood the star of the day: a large e-bus wrapped with a bold red 100 Years ribbon, ready to be cut. You could feel the thrill in the air.
At 12:00 p.m., the official ceremony began. Alexander Biner, our Chairman, opened with heartfelt words about the school’s upcoming jubilee and the importance of giving back to the community that has supported Montana for generations. He was then followed by Cyrill Weber, CEO of ZVB, who highlighted the strength of the partnership and the bus’s role as a visible connector between education and everyday life in Zug. The next speech was from Maria Hügin, Managing Director of GGZ, who shared her appreciation for the initiative and the positive impact it would bring to the region. For every kilometer of the bus ride, the school gives a donation to the organization.
Several of our friends and business partners also joined the event, strengthening the sense of cooperation behind this initiative. Among our special guests was Dr. Stephan Rietiker, father of Montana graduates and a well-known figure in the region, whose presence added a meaningful personal connection to the celebration.
The ribbon cutting moment
After the speeches, attention returned to the centre of Postplatz where the ribbon-wrapped bus awaited its big moment. As the dramatic countdown echoed and our Montana — My Place to Grow theme song played, our students cut the ribbon that beautifully embraced the bus. Confetti burst into the air, glasses were lifted, and the crowd shared a beautiful moment of celebration and togetherness.
Guests stepped inside the bus for a walkthrough. Inside the interior that was decorated with Montana colours, they discovered our school's values, posters and flyers featuring our educational programmes and anniversary highlights. The afternoon flowed on with warm punch, homemade treats, and conversations that reminded us of the strong community that has grown here over the past century. Outside, our crowd mingled and socialized over drinks and refreshments, enjoying the lively atmosphere despite the chilly weather.
A milestone moment to remember
The event was slowly ending at around 2:00 p.m. The Jubilee Line bus stood gleaming in the middle of the square, no longer wrapped. It was slowly departing the square, ready to begin its journey the following Monday through Zug, carrying with it a century of Montana’s story and a commitment to its future.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Cyrill Weber (ZVB) and Maria Hügin (GGZ) for this meaningful partnership.
To our partners, the entire Montana community, and everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone — thank you for your presence, your enthusiasm, and your unwavering support. Here’s to a meaningful start to our 100-year journey!
