Zug Exhibition spotlights our art teacher's painting

A painting of our Art & Design and Visual Arts teacher Ana has been selected for the Stadt Zug exhibition Mensch & Nature Plakatausstellung.
Our teacher Ana Azpeitia works across drawing, painting, and installation media. Her painting “Manicured Fields” has been chosen for the exhibition Mensch & Nature Plakatausstellung. At first glance, the work presents a common landscape with a mountain panorama in the background. The vertical composition of overlapping geometric patterns in bright colours evokes the impression of cultivated fields stretching to the horizon. While inspired by the landscapes of the canton of Zug, the painting does not depict a specific location. The title itself hints at the underlying message: the effects of human agricultural use on the land and the increasing difficulty of finding unspoiled wilderness.
“Manicured Fields” employs diminishing proportions and atmospheric perspective to give the viewer the impression of an expansive cultivated area. The work also showcases Ana’s signature combination of geometric shapes and lines interconnected in organic systems, elements that frequently appear in her artworks.
Born in Madrid in 1972, Ana earned her master’s degree in Fine Arts, focusing on painting, from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1996. She has been working in the canton of Zug since 2009, living first in the city of Zug and then in Steinhausen. Ana currently teaches Art & Design to our CLSP and IGCSE students of the International School section, as well as Visual Arts at the IB Diploma Programme. Learn more about her work here.
This exhibition is a wonderful recognition of Ana’s talent and dedication to exploring the intersection of humans and nature through art. Curious to see it? The exhibition is taking place at the lake of Zug next to Alpenquai from 27 August to 25 October. Exact location and more details can be found here.
