Every year, Quacquarelli Symonds, also known as QS, presents the comparative data on 500 universities worldwide based on their ability to provide their students with a successful career. The QS rankings are the world leader in ranking higher education industries as they focus on how consistent innovation and growth progressively affects the way students engage with their institution and eventually, the world for their careers. The end result is a published evaluation of key areas of higher education institutions  which allows for students to choose the right university that aligns with their ideal career path.

In February, QS placed Switzerland in the third spot overall just behind the US and the UK. Before that, Australia and Canada had ranked higher but have since dropped to fourth and fifth place respectively, giving Switzerland the third spot position. This is in large part because of ETH Zurich, which was ranked last year as 7th in the world and the top overall university in continental Europe. ETH is also the dream university for many of our students who study at our Swiss high school and receive the Swiss Matura. ETH Zurich also earned first place as the number one global school in the bioscience category – a category that we will see more of as technology continues to evolve and grow at its current, rapid pace. And not to be outdone, the École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) came out as the top hospitality and leisure management school. Switzerland has always been a leading country for hospitality in general and is also one of the many reasons that many of our students decide to study with us at Institut Montana.

All in all, four Swiss schools were featured in the top ten of hospitality and leisure category, more than any other country in the world and ETH alongside the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) saw an improvement in their rankings for dentistry and computer science, respectively.

This is news that we in Switzerland are greatly proud of and which gives our students yet another motivating factor for choosing to study the Swiss Matura in order to get into one of these esteemed universities.
